Are you interested in revising older poems? Or new ones? Do you want to unearth the deeper, stranger, more authentic poem that may lie beneath the poem you have written? (It may have a message for you.)

RADICAL REVISION is for you!

What is Radical Revision? Here’s poet Frank X Gaspar on the subject:

So the poem gets savaged, blown to pieces, nothing is safe, nothing is sacrosanct …. I have found poems that I did not know I could write, that I did not think I could ever have written, that were simply beyond me…. It is hard work because there is no light at the end of the tunnel. You have no“goal” you are working toward. There is no “toward.”
– Ellen Bass interview with Frank X Gaspar in The American Poetry Review Jan/Feb 2014

Note: Radical revision is not for every poem (or poet!) We will be looking at many tools and tips for revision, as well as the deep dive techniques of radical revision.
