Revising Your Writing with Ruth Thompson
Saturday July 11th 9:30 a.m. – noon
Hilo Public Library, 300 Waianuenue Ave, Hilo HI
This workshop will focus on revising your writing – discovering concrete, fresh ways to communicate more powerfully.
Ruth will focus on how to use image and sound, how to give your readers the experience rather than tell them about it, how to avoid cliches, and will work with students on specific pieces.
Students should bring an unfinished poem, or short fiction or nonfiction piece, to work on during class.
The 1.5 hour workshop will be followed by a reading. Students in the class may read their pieces as part of the poetry reading that follows.
The public is invited to the reading.
